Maestro at work!

MAESTRO MUSIC - RSNO - GLASGOW ROYAL CONCERT HALL

WHAT WE THOUGHT….

• My favourite piece was Apres Midi d’un Faune
• DAVE is the best bus driver EVER!!

By Adam

• I remember that the orchestral music ranged from loud and daring to quiet and romantic.
• There was strange percussion – roasting tins - in Thomas Ades.
• I can honestly say it was different from what I thought it was going to be.

By Ryan

• The Vivaldi Bassoon Concerto was my favourite piece - I liked how there were different themes - A-B-A-C-A-D-A and a CODA at the end.

By George

• My favourite piece was the solo flute (Apres Midi) because it had a good tune and I like the flute sound.
• Dave made the journey much more exciting.

By Rhiannon

• I remember the range of different instruments in the orchestra - particularly the percussion section as they used baking trays.
• My favourite piece was the cover of David Bowie because it has a cool tune to it. It was called ‘Heroes’.

NB This piece was by the film composer Philip Glass who used this song as his inspiration. He is a minimalist composer who uses repetition and ostinati all the time.

OBSERVATIONS….

• Background information • Different music
• Close-ups of instruments
• Chronological order – mostly
• Slide show
• My Favourite piece of music was ‘These Premises Are Alarmed’ because it had lots of different sounds and strange instruments that made it interesting.
