Frankz Superjam Tea Party March 2012

Enterprise and Admin Groups  Enjoying a nice cup of tea!

On Wednesday 28 March, 2012 a SuperJam Tea Party was held in Dalry Secondary School Hall from 1.45-3.15 pm.  The Tea Party was hosted by Frankz, the S4 Enterprise Group, assisted by the S3 and S4 Administration Groups.

After a welcome from Miss Winchester the enterprise pupils spoke about their activities during the year and explained that part of their course work was to investigate young Scottish entrepreneurs.  In doing this they found out about Fraser Docherty, a young man from Edinburgh, who founded SuperJam using his Granny's secret recipe.  As he wanted to put something back into the community he came up with the idea of hosting SuperJam tea parties for older and disabled people throughout the country.  The pupils thought it would be a good idea to do something for Dalry residents and decided to host a SuperJam Tea Party at the end of their course.

Galloway Music Festival 2012

Galloway Music Festival 2012

Dalry Secondary School music students have again reached for the skies at the Galloway Music Festival and proved themselves worthy. These early teenage years are often the time when students become less inclined to push themselves forward and enter competitive events, but this year many of our pupils took part in ensemble, duet and solo classes and worked hard to improve their performances, many gaining high marks and high praise from the adjudicators.

Kirstin Stalker on xylophone, playing 'Pizzicato Polka' came first in the other instruments class, senior section, winning the Philgown Cup, while Joseph Taylor took second place on drumkit. Other entrants were Hayley McGaw, Lewis Grieve and Sorcha Wolffe.  Pupils also entered the pop music section, senior, and all put forward good performances - Eilidh Stalker and Zoe Kirkpatrick singing Adele songs and a Dalry ensemble consisting of Jordan Pears, Owen Glasby and Aaron Clydesdale, with 'Cannonball'.  Dalry pupils came second in the large ensemble class with ten performers from S1 to S4 playing Farewell to Stromness. In addition to these, Kimberly McAdam came second in the clarinet solo class and Dylan Blore was second in his solo violin class, Grade 4.
